I think quads might be the best possible boat for young rowers. Stable, fast and technique matters a lot. I wish there was more youth sculling in the U.S. Here almost all youth rowing is in straight fours and eights.

Almost all youth rowing in the UK is sculling – I think it’s something about spine development and rowing on one side. Guess it’s not a problem if you switch sides often enough!

Same in the Netherlands. Here in CZ it is mostly sculling (with Compulsory use of Macon blades) but some straight fours are done.
